Where to Eat!

Fine dining, relaxed island and beach front eateries, awesome breakfast spots and tasty takeouts, Anna Maria has everything you could want.

There are so many awesome places to eat on Anna Maria Island. From fine dining to great sandwiches, to take out, to private catering. We also have delivery on the island, so you don’t even need to leave your Pineapplefish home!

These are some of our favorite places, with something for everyone, to suit every occasion! There are also some great places the regularly have live music with great music, so don’t forget to check out this page too.

The Waterfront Restaurant, is our absolute must place to eat on the island. Open for lunch and dinner, the Waterfront, has a stunning location on Tampa Bay, looking out to City Pier. It has a great outdoor patio from which to enjoy the views! Inside, the décor is relaxed but real smart, the food is truly exceptional, locally sourced, and the menu changes regularly. The cocktails and wine selection is extensive, so this is the perfect place for doing it casual, or enjoying a special occasion meal! The Shrimp & Grits is something else! And you have to try the Tuna Shasimi and stunning selection of salads! This is also one of the best places on the island for gluten free options/celiac friendly and vegan!

 

Beach Bistro isa Zagat award winning restaurant in Holmes Beach. The ambience and views across the Gulf make this the perfect place for a special occassion. A large bar and bar area, is perfect for a more casual evening too. The food here is turly unique. Unusual but fabulous dishes are created with a la carte flare. And the most extensive wine/drink menu on the island, alongside knowledgeable bar staff who can help you pair up the perfect drink with your meal. Eat Here is another offering from this group. Found in Holmes Beach near the marina, it’s style is more casual but they have a really wonderful menu too!

The Sandbar Restaurant, is possibly the most famous restaurant on the island. It’s long history and its position right on the Gulf beach, in Anna Maria City, means it is perfectly placed to capture the sunsets every night! The food is casual, lots of salads, sandwiches, steak and chicken, so this is a great place for both lunch and dinner. On Sundays in the summer, they host a Jazz brunch, perfect for a chilled and relaxed late morning. Their sister restaurant The Beach House has the same kind of vibe and food, plus beach front views down in Bradenton.

 

For a great sports bar, good food, and a chat with the locals, Slim’s on Gulf Drive is a must, as is the Ugly Grouper in Holmes Beach. Signature fried tacos and sliders, plus entertainment for the kids, live music and 11 TV screens showing all the latest games, the Ugly Grouper is an awesome atmospheric and fun place to go.

For breakfast through lunch, our two favorite places are; Ginny & Jane E’s bakery on Gulf Drive. Pastries and cakes as big as your head, awesome smoothies, omelettes, eggs, full breakfasts, fried chicken and waffles and the best coffee car on the island! Sit amongst the goods for sale which form part of the Ginny & Jane’s store, buy some gifts, enjoy a book from their library or just enjoy the buzz of this place!

The Rod & Reel Pier is one of our favorite spots for breakfast although they do offer an awesome lunch and dinner menu (fish and chips for those of you from the UK are on the evening menu!). But we love it early morning; enjoy fantastic omelettes, homemade pancakes or steak and eggs, and endless coffee, looking over the water, watching the fisherman at work and play!

If you’re looking for the perfect take out for the beach, enjoy freshly made hot and cold sandwiches from Scotts Deli. Find Scott’s inside the Coffee Haus on Holmes Beach. You can also check out the hot and cold deli bar at the Anna Maria General Store on Pine Avenue. Awesome sandwiches, and salads, as well as a good selection of Hometown Desserts amazing cakes, cookies and muffins.

Another great place is Poppo’s, on Pine Avenue. Here you can take out freshly made burritos, tacos, and protein bowls, and you decide what goes in it!

Vinny’s Italian kitchen at AMI Plaza on Holmes Beach, offer a fantastic freshly made, authentic Italian menu. Eat in or take out there are large portions options of delicious pastas, for a night in, or occasion meals for something special, and freshly made pizza. There is also an extensive gluten free menu too! Vinny’s also makes the best fresh bread every day.
