With the beautiful outdoors on Anna Maria, there really is no excuse not to enjoy a daily walk or run, either along the beach or on the road. You will often see many people enjoying the same, so you need to make sure you bring some sneakers!

There are also many nature trails, that are perfect for hiking, enjoying the beauty of our island wildlife as you walk. Fresh air, peace and tranquility, are equally as important for the mind as well as the body!

Of course, getting out on or in the water, is also a good way of looking after yourself. An early morning or early evening beach swim is so invigorating, and a few laps of your own rental pool, can be a great way to do do some exercise. Paddle boarding along the canals, or the ocean is also recognized as a good low impact workout, exercising your whole body, reducing stress levels, and through heightening your awareness of every move you make while on your paddle board, psychologist researchers determine this state of mind as “flow,” which is ideal for Zen Meditation!



If you are looking to work up a real sweat, we have a number of fitness gyms across the island, many of which cater for visitors to the island, with short term membership packages, including daily, weekly, monthly and annual memberships.

One of our favorite gyms is AMI Health & Fitness, a full service fitness center offering Group Fitness on demand, free weights up to 110lbs, strength training, cardio equipment and personal training. AMI Health & Fitness in Holmes Beach opposite AMI Plaza is a clean and friendly fitness center and is open 24/7 to those with a refundable deposit entry key card.

For something a little less strenuous, you can always hire a bike from our friends at Beach Bums and take a cycle ride around the island. Anna Maria is very flat, is only 7 miles long and is very safe for cycling, so all ages and fitness levels can really benefit from some bike riding while you are here. And we would say it is absolutely the best way to get around Anna Maria.

And, if all of that sounds a little bit too much like hard work, there are a number of wonderful Spa Boutiques and Yoga studios across the island. Enjoy any number of health and wellness therapies, include massage,  acupuncture, fire cupping, and reflexology, plus beauty treatments, such as facials, hair treatments and nail services. Many of our island spas offer spa packages, or group bookings, perfect for a friends getaway or wedding party!

A really wonderful thing to experience, is a massage on the beach at sunset! Sea-renity Beach Spa & Bou-tiki are the only island spa that offers this service, in their private tiki hut in Bradenton Beach. They offer individual or couples massage.

There are also a number of Yoga studios on the island, which offer private sessions of yoga and meditation, group classes and even yoga on the beach. A beautiful, spiritual experience that you really must try!
